Lesson 1
In this lesson we will introduce the concepts of apologetics, explain why it is important in society today, and lay out the goals for the course.
Lesson 2
Do you have a heart for God? Defending the faith requires courage and commitment, and God may "humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands."
Lesson 3
To answer the call to be a Christian apologist, we must learn to discipline our minds, master our feelings, and commit ourselves to knowing God's Word. In this session we will study how we are to do this, and to prepare ourselves for the response from a broken world.
Lesson 4
Any job description that comes with armor is likely to be difficult, and Christianity is no different. We have all read the verses to put on the full armor of God, but who actually knows what that means – how to "put it on", and use it in a skilled and effective manor for the glory of God? In this session we will start you on your training.
Lesson 5
The first tool of the Apologist is your Spiritual Gift from the Holy Spirit. In this session you will learn to identify your gift, along with how to apply it using your own unique interests and characteristics toward supporting and expanding the body of Christ.
Lesson 6
There are no Christian or atheist tools – only tools. To communicate effectively we must chose the best ones for each encounter. In this session we will begin to cover some of the key issues and tools to address them.
Lesson 7
Satan is referred to as the father of lies, thus we know that lies and deceptions are the tools of the enemy, however, we need to understand that those we engage with are not the enemy even though they may use these tools.
We must learn to recognize sound, logical arguments and guard against inaccuracy and fallacy, not only from those we are engaging with, but also, and perhaps especially, from ourselves. In this session we will identify several common logical fallacies, and provide a process for evaluating the soundness of arguments.
Lesson 8
In the early days of apologetics, Christians provided hope and direction to lost and broken people. Today we face a hostile and aggressive opponent. In this session we discuss pervasive techniques that are used to turn people's thoughts and beliefs away from Christianity without their awareness or understanding.
