        To answer the call to be a Christian apologist, we must learn to discipline our minds, master our feelings, and commit ourselves to knowing God's Word. In this session we will study how we are to do this, and to prepare ourselves for the response from a broken world.

        Sensing God's Call on Your Life

        This session is about discipline in your life.

        Discipline entails mental faculties, moral character, and self-control.

        • There is no winning without working.
        • There is no winning without warring.
        • God's call is never easy
        • It often involves giving up something you enjoy
        • The world will turn against you
        • You may never see the results

        The book of Nehemiah is one of the best treatises on discipline under adversity.

        • God places a burden on your heart
        • You will be troubled by what we learn
        • You will be surprised that you are the answer to God's call
        • The burden has to "break your heart" so God can invite you into the problem

        You will face a battle

        • Gossip
        • Criticism
        • Complaining
        • Slander
        • Threats
        • Intimidation
        • Fear

        Discipline of the Mind

        Mental discipline includes:

        • Reasoning
        • Persuasion

        The Response in Action

        1. Pray first
        2. Feel confident in God's ability to meet the need
        3. Present your actual petition to God
        4. Remember to repent
        5. You have the right to call God to be and do what He says He will be and do
        6. Be prepared to celebrate the victory of the Master, regardless of outcome
        7. Relinquish yourself to the purpose of God
